The Environmental Protection and Safety Center is a Class 1 Administration Unit for this university.  It consists of the Environmental and Radiation Protection Division (ERPD) and the Laboratory Safety and Health Division (LSHD), and is responsible for campus environmental protection and laboratory safety and health work.

The university established the ‘Environmental Radiation Protection and Laboratory Safety and Health Committee’ (Environmental and Safety Committee or ESC below) according to the environmental radiation protection and safety and health laws.  The committee includes the chairperson, vice chair, secretary general, default members, and chosen members.  The committee convenes every 3 month, and can convene ad hoc meetings if necessary to evaluate, discuss, plan, and supervise issues related to environmental radiation protection and safety and health of university labs.

In addition, this is a subcommittee established under the Environmental and Safety Committee, the ‘Toxic Chemical Management Committee’, which has 5 to 7 regular committee members.  Members are recommended by the ESC chair and have expertise in terms of managing and knowledge regarding the properties of toxic chemical substances.  This subcommittee convenes every 6 months, and can convene ad hoc meetings if necessary to supervise and manage the operations of toxic chemicals within the university.
