The university has set up a waste water purification plant at the Kuangfu Campus and at the College of Hakka Studies. The waste water purification plant is set to be completed and for official use in March 2012.
The Kuangfu campus water purification plant will take care of waste water from the campus labs and from general use, to ensure that the water released conforms to environmental laws. In addition to being checked by the EPA, the university will also check on the water quality. The silt and dirt produced by the water purification plant will be stored in the plant for a while after being dehydrated, and will be used for the services of professional cleaning companies after accumulating up to certain volume.T
There will be 2 processing systems for the inflow of the waste water. The general waste water will use a biological treating system, and the lab waste water will use physical treating system. The total daily capacity for water processing is at 1506 cubic meters, and the authorized quantity is at 1430 cubic meters per day. This includes processing general use waste water of 1,350 cubic meter/day and lab waste water of 156 cubic meters/day. The actual daily inflow in recent years ranges between 400 to 800 cubic meter/day.
Starting in 2010, the new building for the College of Hakka Studies (located at Chubei City of Hsinchu Count) is being initiated for use. That building has a set of small scale general use waste water processing system. The authorized capacity is 56 cubic meters/day. The average amount processed in 2010 was 5 cubic meters/day.
Starting March 2012, the water purification plant at the Boai Campus will be official in use. It will mainly process the general use waste water and the lab waste water. The total designed daily capacity is 330 cubic meters, and authorized amount is 313 cubic meters/day, and uses a combined waste water processing system. First, it will go through physical processing, and then biological processing, before being released.
